Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun resorting to personalized games created through the custom game tool to finish these tasks, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of getting twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms could shortly find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

A different forum member brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game currently, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and maybe an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

But when completing the missions in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
