Exploring a Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have encountered a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure features a hero that is truly a piece of poop trying to travel to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: press a single jump button. In numerous stages, battle mini-bosses and access a market to buy skins for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions carefully, as a error means beginning again. Bounce off floating orbs to propel the poop to new heights, cross crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to reveal secret routes. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on challenging stages where things ramps up.

In terms of design, the game shows off neon stages and an amazing music score. The simple visual style of morphing geometric shapes could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's hard to name similar titles where you are a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content is present a lot in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, such as being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready at present on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on PC in the fall.
