FC Barcelona Ready for Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
