Patriots Match Longest Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs this season
New England matched their longest winning run since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at their home field with QB Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the Jets' first possession
But the New England answered in the second quarter as the rookie scored two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie late in the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the win
