Patson Daka Scores Late Equaliser to Earn Zambia Against Mali in Afcon.

Patson Daka celebrating his crucial goal

Patson Daka ended a 20-month goal drought for Zambia with his last-gasp header in Morocco.

Patson Daka was the the savior for Chipolopolo as his injury-time header earned a nail-biting 1-1 draw against Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca.

Eagles Seize First-Half Lead

The Malian attacker had put Mali ahead shortly after the hour mark in the tournament's opening group clash at the Stade Mohammed V, firing in from close range after his first effort from a set-piece had been blocked.

Mali controlled the tempo and had an opportunity to go in front in the closing stages of the first half after a Malian forward was fouled in the penalty area by Chipolopolo defender Matthews Banda.

El Bilal Toure stepped up for the Eagles but his low effort was brilliantly parried by Chipolopolo shot-stopper Willard Mwanza.

Daka's Late Header

The Leicester City man eventually rescued a point for the 2012 Afcon winners, who were for the most part overwhelmed by the aerial strength of their opponents until the defender's delivery into the box was powered home by the attacker.

Group A Table

This draw means each team two points behind tournament hosts Morocco in the Group A table after the Atlas Lions claimed victory in their first match 2-0 against Comoros at the weekend.

Chipolopolo will remain in Casablanca to play their next game against Comoros on Friday, while The Eagles journey to Rabat for a crucial showdown against the host nation.
