Vinted Members Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.

Digital Channels Response

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Changes

Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
